Cannes 2024 is Coming
The 77th edition of the International Festival de Cannes has now announced its lineup for Competition, Un Certain Regard, Out of Competition, Midnight Screenings, Cannes Premiere, Special Screenings…. The other parallel festival lineups are also now listed for Critics’ Week, Directors’ Fortnight and ACID.
This year only, I am offering a free report, not yet finished, but enough to allow you to choose the films YOU want to see at a glance.
It will undoubtably serve as a template for others to monetize, though, in fact, as SydneysBuzz itself was founded by IMDb when they bought FilmFinders and created this blog, and as FilmFinders had previously served as the basis and impetus creating Cinando, the credit for any actions should be given in perpetuity, as it belongs to yours truly, Sydney Levine, spellt with a Y and sounding like Devine…Sydney Levine. What’s more it is copyrighted and my permission to reproduce it is needed.
Moreover, I have similar historical reports for Cannes, Berlin, Toronto and Sundance which I have been attending every year for almost 50 years, starting in 1985 when I became the acquisitions executive for Lorimar and then Republic Pictures. In a data-driven age, these reports have added value. It would take a person with a vast imagination to value them monetarily. Should you know of such a person or entity, pass this information on.
I brag about this because I am proud of it and I am about to announce my retirement as, to quote the Administrative Head of the Cannes Film Festivals’ Marché de Film, Michelle Waterhouse, “times have now long changed…..” Mais, pour moi, “Plus ça change…”
Download the report here, and judge for yourself. I hope it helps you as my reports have helped The Biz.
